problem with internet explorer

I have recently reformatted my hard drive and re installed windows xp home.
I have done all the updates but have a problem with internet explorer.

It seems to time out at 10 - 15 minutes and say it can't find server but my
IPS is connected.

This happens after I install Service pack 2. I have not got window firewall
enabled and can understand this.

Has anyone else had this problem. If I unistall Service pack 2 my internet
works.

I suggest looking over some of the known conflict areas for SP2
