I dont know if its the fault of IE6 or my ISP but I have a big problem with
my internet. I have 3 windows accounts and the internet only works on one of
them and the other two are shown a 'Cannot display this page' error message.
I dont know what has caused this problem, but right now my account is the
only with internet connection. Do you guys think it could be a virus or
something? I have a antivirus(Avast) and a firewall(Zone Alarm). I am also
going to contact my ISP about this but I think there is something wrong with
IE6. Also when I go onto one of the accounts that are faulty and go into
command prompt, then type in 'ping' and an IP address i get 4 sent and 4
recieved packages with 0% loss, so I think that I am connected to the
internet. Its just that IE6 cannot display the page. I have installed SP2.
Please let me know what you guys think this could be

Hi,
Could be a malware problem. Work through the solutions (CWShredder,
Ad-aware, Spybot) at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm Also note the security tips on that
page.

and parasites.:

Thx alot. I went on every link you gave me, downloaded what I thought could
help me but still no use. I run a anti-virus scan, adaware scan, spybot
search & destroy and also everything you told me. I managed to do one thing
though. When I doulbe click the IE6 icon at the bottom it tells you what page
is loading. I wrote down what was loading and it was a file from my system32
folder called : shdoclc.dll. But there is a catch. The full file is
res://C://WINDOWS/system32/shdoclc.dll/dnserror.htm

this means that there is some file within that dll file. I dont know if this
matters but I thought I would just bring it up. I am now going to do the
winsock xp fix. I'll let you know how it goes. Please let me know what you
think could help me out. Oh and one more thing. This happened like 2 weeks
ago, and i could use the internet on like the 15th but not on the 16th. I
dont get it. Any help appreciated.

IT WORKED!!!The winsock XP fix worked. I run it on the account where internet
was not working and it put the registeries back. Thank you so much. It was my
dads account that didnt work. He was about to restore the whole PC to its
original state. 3yrs of work would have been deleted. Anyway thanks again,
and for the future if someone has a similar problem you should recommend this
program to them as a priority.

You're welcome. Glad we saved dad's data. But, he has backups of all
important files, right? ;-)
