problem with IE

i'm having alot of problems with my IE. I'm not sure which version i have...i'm assuming its IE6. Basically web pages are not opening, and i'm getting a message saying 'IE cannot open the internet site. Operation Aborted'. For the web pages that do open, every link i click on sends me to a website called www.ntsearch.com. I'm especially having problems with my hotmail account, and cannot open or delete any e-mails
I cannot figure out what the problem is, i've downloaded all the updates available, but the problem remains. Could anyone advise me further, as it's driving me crazy

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each need to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
