Hello,
I have a problem with IE locking up on a few users,
who are all logged into the same server.
We have a Win2000 server running Terminal Services,
and Citrix XP on it. Server is an IBM x445. It has MS
office installed on the server, and we publish the
desktop for the thin client users who connect to the
server. It has various printer drivers installed. We
have about 100 users who connect to this server. Nothing
has been added or removed from this server in months,
during which time it has ran fine.
The problem is that a maybe once or twice a day, for
the last week, I will get about 5 or 6 users who call and
say that when they launch IE, it will expand to a white
screen and just stay there. They call at the same time.
It will bog down everything else that they have running,
and the web page will never load. The tool bar at the
top doesn't even load. You have to right click on the IE
in the task bar, and close, and then choose end task.
Once it stops, all other apps work fine. Other than IE,
the user's profiles are all correct and apps work fine.
After a while, IE will start working again. The affected
users has never been over 6 (out of 100, who do not
report any problems), but it seems to affect the same
users frequently.

Below is the message that shows up in event veiwer:

The description for Event ID ( 1000 ) in Source (
Microsoft Internet Explorer ) cannot be found. The local
computer may not have the necessary registry information
or message DLL files to display messages from a remote
computer. The following information is part of the event:
iexplore.exe, 6.0.2800.1106, unknown, 0.0.0.0, 01033e8d.

There are no error messages on the desktop, and the
error log it wants to send to MS is huge and full of
gibberish to me.
Any ideas on how to figure this out would be
appreciated. Thanks in advance.

John

I have also noticed that along with the problem stated
before, If a user opens word, and types in a url, then
clicks it, it closes word and doesn't open IE.

I have the exact same as John. I have researched this thing for 2 weeks and
only came up with a rebuild.

I have the same troubles and have found no fix to this. I run the exact same
environment as John basically little different but overall the same. What
can we do? I can't find a fix anywhere. Please advise...
