Mike

After a complete freezeup of my Windows 2000 machine and reboot I am
not able to load any web pages or anything that operates via http, I
believe. I am using IE 6. Email, ftp, Messanging software work fine.
The browser will cycle through "web site found" then hang on "waiting
for reply"
Doing virus scan on machine, but had to leave before it finished.
Any help greatly appreciated.

You have searced for virii but not spyware. Download this
program called spybot search and destroy to get rid of
those. Are you a dial up? cable dsl? or LAN user? either
way you have to type ipconfig /all in a command prompt and
verify these settings are correct. To modify these
settings in the properties of your network neighborhood
and properties on your lan connections under tcp/ip
properites make sure these settings are correct( if you
dont know make sure obtain automatic is checked)

Also make sure in internet explorer > tools > internet
options> connections > lan settings > that use proxy is
not checked

Also make sure you dont have zone alarm or mcafee personal
firewall or microsoft proxy client installed or
confiugured incorrectly

Thanks Mike. I ran spybot last night, and religiously run it every
Friday, nothing out of the ordinary came out. What I finally did last
night, after some maintaince, clear cache, ipconfig /release /renew,
checking firewall and much much more. I started at the cable modem and
shut everything down, cable modem, router, hub, then the computer. Let
everything set through dinner, then powered everything up from
modem-->computer. Everything was back up and running. Life was good
once again.

Thanks
