Problem with Hidrag virus

Hi,

I am facing problem with Win.Hidrag virus. Huge files in my machine got
infected by this virus. Could some one please let me know how can I get rid
of this problem.

It is possible this is a new threat.... Go here:
http://www.bluecollarpc.net/virus-scans.html .....Use the free scans to find
which product detects it. You may wish to buy it. Then you may also try the
free open source ClamWin antivirus which is very good but is only a scanner
without real time protection in paid subscription products. You can also try
the free Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool here:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx

NOTE that it would be recommended to remove the threat before making any
online purchase if in fact the malware is able to transmit personal
information.... try any free home versions.... listed here:

Currently I am using AVAST antivirus with all updates and my firewall is
active.
I will try your suggestion and will get back if needed.

I have tried using Windows malicious software removal toll to remove
hidrag. But it has only partially removed the virus... :(
Could any one help me on completely removing it...

Now I am using Avast antivirus.

The MS Malicious Software Removal Tool is limited in scope and will only
remove certain types of malware. It is not a good solution for cleaning
an infected machine.

Go through these general malware removal steps systematically -

Include scanning with David Lipman's Multi_AV and follow instructions to
do all scans in Safe Mode. Please see the special Notes regarding using
Multi_AV in Vista.

worry you. Scroll all the way down to almost the bottom of the page and
you'll see a box titled "Infos Zum Download - Multi-AV Scanning Tool".

When all else fails, run HijackThis and post your log in one of the
specialty forums listed at the first link above (not here, please).

Not all tools used will work in Vista and you will need to run them
elevated. Since Vista is so new, it will be a while before removal
techniques and tools are developed. If you are unable to remove the
infection by following the general steps, register at one of the
HijackThis forums as suggested.

Standard caveat: If the procedures look too complex - and there is no
shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a
professional computer repair shop (not your local version of
BigComputerStore/GeekSquad). Please be aware that not all local shops
are skilled at removing malware and even if they are, your computer may
be so infested that Windows will need to be clean-installed. Have all
your data backed up before you take the machine into a shop.
