Hi, my name is Miguel... I have a Windows XP Toshiba Laptop.
I have been more interested into designing/making websites since some time
now... for about four or six months... but about a week ago it came the
moment when I really needed to install a font... I read how to do it and I
was ready... however, when I went uo to the font's folder, when I hit File, I
did not see any "Install New Font" option... I've read that instead of doing
it that way you could just go ahead and paste it up... I did it, and nothing
happened...
Please, I really need to install this font, because is a proyect I'm doing,
and I want it to look nice, ovbiously....
Sorry if i misspelled something, I live in italy...

Thanks for help...
Miguel

Usually this happens when the Fonts folder loses its system and/or read
only attribute. The following article explains how to fix it.
Missing Menu Commands in the Fonts Folder
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/133725/en-us

The article also discusses replacing the fontext.dll and the desktop.ini
file for the Fonts folder. Those steps are not usually necessary as the
missing attributes is the most common cause of the problem.

TIP: To make a font available temporarily (without installing it): Double
click the font file that you want to open. Leave this window open. While
it's open, look at the list of available fonts in the program that you're
working from. You should see the font's name added to the list of available
fonts.

NOTE: You're working on a web page. Consider what is going to happen on the
viewer's end if they don't have the font that you want to use installed. A
default font or one that the user has configured will be used instead.

You can embed a font into a page so that the viewer will be prompted to
download it. However, most folks don't take kindly to a "forced" download
of a font just to view a web page.

The rule of thumb is to use to use a nice "easy-on-the-eyes" font for the
body of the page. Preferably one that comes with Windows so that most
viewers will already have that font available for viewing.

Reserve the use of fancy fonts for banners, buttons and other image
components of the page. When used this way, the fancy font becomes a part
of these graphics and will appear as you intended without download prompts
to the viewer. And the main body of the page remains user configurable.

This approach is friendlier to your potential viewers and will be
appreciated more.

I actually need the font to do a graphic... like a banner, and they said they
wanted this font... anyways, thanks for the info... now I can install my
fonts!!

Thanks
Miguel

Its me again... apparently I was missing the Fontext.dll, and i went to my
original CD... then I looked for the Fontext file, but I found one called
"FONTEXT.DL_"
Is that the right file, but i have to change the DL_ to DLL?? I dont know
what to do!!

I've got nothing... I found my Fontext file, I extracted it to the
windows/system folder, i restarted my computer, didn't see anything, then I
did the command prompt thing, and nothing... what can I be missing!?

Place the file in C:\Windows\System32 folder. Also, have you checked the
attributes for the "Fonts" folder?

After placing the file in the C;\Windows\System32 ... system32 folder NOT
system folder ... did you register the fontext.dll file?

regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\fontext.dll

You're most welcome, Miguel!
