Problem with firewall

With the default XP firewall, I cannot play some multiplayer games
without disabling the firewall.
Jedi Outcast is one of them.
So how would i change the settings of the firewall to allow the ports
this game uses in multiplayer to run.
Secondly, I've recently hooked up a router to my computer so I can share
a connection between the computer, and a laptop. The router is An
ethernet Cable/Dsl router, by CiscoSystems. Since hooking it up, even If
i turn off the xp firewall, I cannot host a joinable server on Jedi
Outcast. It runs fine for me, but No one can join it.

Anyone have any suggestions?
