Problem with Epson C82 clogging?

I recently replaced my ink cartridges with new ones from Carrot. I
printed with the black sucessfully for about 2 weeks, but now nothing
will print. I have cleaned the nozzles and heads several times and
finally this evening, purchased and replaces all cartridges again with
Epson brand. Still nothing is printing. I read some of the messages on
this board and noticed that 'clogging' was mentioned more than once.
Does anyone have maintenance suggestions for solving this problem?
When I clean the nozzles, etc, where does the ink that is definitely
being consummed go?
Thx, BB

I've got an Epson C80 that worked fine until I tried refilling cartridges.
That may or may not have anything to do with my clogged nozzles.
I was ignorant of the fact that you cannot turn the printer on and off
via a power strip, yet I did this for about a year and a half before any
problems. I put my clogged printer on the shelf, and bought another
used C80, thinking that I could use all the refilling ink I'd purchased with
that machine. The second C80 failed with clogged nozzles after printing
maybe 10 pages, and that with genuine Epson cartridges installed.
Being of an extremely stubborn nature, I've got yet a third C80 on the
way. I'm determined to find out if I can master this printer. In the
meantime, I bought a new C84 so at least I could have one working
printer available.

Sometimes running cleaning cycles can make things even worse,
smearing ink all over the printhead and clogging all the other nozzles
up, I think that's what I did to mine, anyway. I'm slowly learning
stuff about Epson inkjets by spending all my spare time googling
research about these machines and their problems.

It splatters out to the bottom of the machine and is soaked up on some
absorbent pads.

I've just ordered some C80 cleaning cartridges from:

http://www.mediastreet.com/

I'm going to use them in my inoperative printers and see
what happens. I'll post the results, success or failure,
here on this newsgroup.

My guess is that the longer the printer sits around unused
with a clog, the less likely it will be for you to unclog the
nozzles. Mediastreet might have cleaning carts for the C80
as well, the set for the C80 cost around $60.

No remove the print head and soak it in some ammonia solution, I use a product
called Spray & Wipe, just few mm 1/8" in a small tray/bowl, for about one
hour, then did it again for a hour, then did it again with clean warm water,
the try off with a lint free tissue.

If your place is hot and you do not use the printer often then it will clog
up..

You can't over do the cleaning thing as the ink is sucked out and also the
print head has a rubber wiper to remove any gunk or paper dust/lint etc..

To remove the print head on a C82, is it just a case of removing the 2 screws on
either side? TIA

My guess is that the procedure for removing the printhead is quite complex.
Would I need to order a service manual in order to do this? I'm quite good
at mechanical procedures, and might try this if it's possible.

Well, with the C80, it looks like getting to the printhead will be quite complicated,
lots of stuff in the way.
