problem with embedded photos

I changed the name of a folder(used right click "rename"
as the instructions suggested) and now pages with
embedded photos in those folders will not open after I
upload to the server -- all I get is the little red x
where the picture used to be. Interesting thing is that
it still works in Frontpage before uploading AND, if I
modify the photo and resample it and overwrite, it
uploads and displays properly. Any ideas?

Thanks

Did you have the web open in FP when you renamed the folder?

Yes, it kept the links intact.

Everything seems to work except that photos don't
display. But, as I said, if I modify the photo and
resave, it shows up fine after I upload.

How did you "upload?" It is necessary to PUBLISH the site after making such
a change.

Poor choice of terminology on my part. I published to the
host as I always do (file>publish web). Usually just
publish changes, but also tried again, completely
reloading the web. That didn't work either. I may have
found an explanation in knowldege base article no 219242.
If I read that correctly, the link to embedded files would
not be updated when the filename changes. Unfortunately,
if that's the case there seems to be no solution other
than modifying each picture to force FP to reestablish the
link. Any other ideas/suggestions would be much
appreciated. Thanks, DWD

Hi Doug,

That article specifically mentions only 2 types of embedded tags that don't
get updated. I must admit to being quite perplexed, as the server extensions
should update all links when you do something like change a folder name (you
DID change it from FrontPage Explorer, right?). You might try recalculating
hyperlinks to see if FrontPage doesn't fix it that way.

Recalculating seems to have fixed the problem. Appreciate
the help. Thanks. Doug
