Hello,
I have some encrypted file.
Unfortunately I got a disaster on my PC, so all my
original configuration is not available.
I had to reinstall Win200 but now I have not the original
Key associated to my Administrator.
At now I'm not able to recovery my files.
Is there any method to recovery these files?

Thank
Vincenzo

If you still have the user profiles from the user or administrator [probably being
the recovery agent] either on the drive or in a backup you might still be able to
recover the files, but not from normal methods. You will have to call Microsoft for
paid support or try a third party recovery tool. Otherwise the files are history.---

Ok. The situation is bad!
Also I tried to make a Ghost of the original installation,
but the Administrator user (recovery agent) nor the
original user are able to decrypt the files.
Is there not any possibility to get the original Key?
Any other ideas?
Thank
Vincenzo

Not really. EFS is meant to be secure. It sounds as if you have a problem with
corruption of some sort and without a backup EFS private key you pretty much are out
of luck. If the files are very important a call to Microsoft may help [not free] if
you have the intact user profile and remember the password for that user. Efsinfo may
also be helpful to determine who can decrypt. You said you tried to Ghost the
original. Try using the cipher command also to decrypt after running Check Disk
first. --- Steve
