I have a Sony VAIO, with a Sony DVD RW DW-D22A. The drive reads perfectly
commercial DVDs and CD, and I can create CDs and read them. But when I burn a
DVD, even if it completes successfully, I cannot read it. The computer hangs
trying to read it, and when it gets back the explorer shows and empty DVD.
I've read article 899527 and 818733 in Microsoft support centre, which
describes my problem, and it seems to be tracked to the UDF driver. Anyway,
Microsoft says I should contact Sony, but that there is a hotfix for it with
them.
After a couple of days browsing the internet I know a lot of people have had
this problem, but I couldn't find a definite answer on how to fix it.
My version of the UDFS.SYS file is 5.1.2600.2180, dated 8/4/2004. It seems
to be a more current version, but I can't find it. In any case, the problem
could be different.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
