Hi, lately I have been having problems with my DSL connection when I use
DC++ and browsing at the same time.I have a Netgear DG834G v.2 modem and I
have checked through netstat that I have a lot of open ports (listening..).
Is there a way that DC++ drains the bandwith from the connection. Since the
connection is very slow even when I am not downloading something, and it is
running. Is there a program that I can monitor ports and regulate the
bandwith for browsing, e-mailing etc...and for dowloading??

Thanks a lot

DC++ may be saturating your upstream bandwidth, which would make
any online task seem very sluggish, even if you aren't downloading.

a) run a speedtest while nothing is active on the connection to make
sure you are getting your advertised rates.
b) open ports will not affect transfer rates, but you should consider
a firewall for security reasons.
c) check out X-Netstat (v5) Very handy program that can be configured
to show (and kill) all active & listening tcp/udp connections.

Try limiting the upstream bandwidth in DC++ (should be an option, if
i recall correctly) or maximum server slots. I believe there are also
programs out there that can directly limit available bandwidth to any
running program.

Good Luck
