Hi all,

Because of need to opt for a higher configuration, we
bought new DELL server and I moved all my company domain
to this new server.

Old system:

ADS,DNS,DHCP configured on a PIII PC and it is working
fine before and after moving also.

New System:

1.) Installed Win2000 server, DNS, DHCP and configured
this as additional domain controller.

2.)From the active directory users and computers-->
operations masters --> change... from old server to this
newly installed server. ( all the 3 roles,
RID/PDC/Infrastructure)

3.) Now I un-installed DNS from the old server and
offcourse still connected in the network.

But now I am getting errors and the messages in Event
Viewer are:

1.) Dynamic registration or deregistration of one or more
DNS records failed because no DNS servers are available.

2.) The Windows Time Service was not able to find a Domain
Controller. A time and date update was not possible.

3.) The browser has forced an election on network
\Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{AE29EB59-3888-40A6-9B20-C50FBF107CBD}
because a master browser was stopped.

4.) The World Wide Web Publishing Service service hung on
starting.

I believe some more tasks as to be moved to this new
server from the old server.

I want to completely remove the old server and this new
server as to work as a Complete Domain Controller

Can one help me out in resolving this problem.

Thanks & Regards,

There are five roles to transfer plus the Global catalog.
In addition to the three you named there is the Domain Naming Master and
Schema Master
Windows 2000 Active Directory FSMO Roles
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;197132

You want to gracefully transfer the roles rather that seize them.
The Global Catalog must be manually transferred on the NTDS Settings in AD
Sites & Services
3.) Now I un-installed DNS from the old server and
offcourse still connected in the network.

Uninstalling DNS was the last and least thing you needed to do anyway, if
you are going to remove this old server run DCPROMO on it to demote it.
After you transfer the roles use netdiag and DCDIAG to verify that DNS
registration and replication has taken place. Don't just transfer the roles
and turn it off, you'll be taking a bigger bite than you want to chew.

In addition to what Kevin said about the FSMO's, also don't forget to change
the DNS addresses configured in your IP properties as well. If the old
servers are still in your config, then that can cause these issues.
