Problem with date change when writing to CD-RW

I want to copy old files to my CD-RW for backup or
transfer to other computers.

When I copy the files to my CD-RW the date attributes are
changed to today's date.

I want to preserve the original file dates so I can sort
the files by original date when I restore the data.

I have Windows XP Pro.

I do not recall this problem when using Windows 98 or
floppies, Jaz, Zip disks, etc.

Is this an option that can be turned off in XP Pro?

Thanks,

TL

You are using the built in burner. Before the files are burned it is copied to a "staging" area. When the file is copied it gets a new date - it's a new file where it is.

Buy a different CD mastering (burning) program. I believe they all have drag & drop burning. That will keep the existing date.
