Problem with D Drive

My PC D - drive pops out as soon as a cd is loaded . I have tried
re-starting the computer etc but no luck .It's an assembled PC and the
company is no longer in business . Please help .

Make, OS etc would help but assuming its not of 486 vintage, I'd be
inclined to go out and buy a new CD. For the money at least a CD/RW
(I take it the CD drive is the same age as the computer?) If the
company is no longer in business, turn off the mains and open the box
if you can, (you have no warranty etc to lose). Make sure no cables
have come loose. If still no go, try another unit; beg borrow etc.
