Hello,
One of the services running in my XP HOME is CTFMON.exe service.
I have found this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/282599

The problem is, that my MSOffice does not use Alternative User Input, which
is deactivated and never used before.
I have followed Step 2 and step 3 in that article but still I have that
service running.
How to get rid off it?
That sevice slows dramatically startup and exit of the applications in my
computer!
Your help appreciated,
Jack

I did not need to do Step 1 because I did not have that option enabled.
Interestingly, I have removed the following key from the registry:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
but after rebooting the key was again there!!!
What is doing that?

And I want to make a point it is NOT a virus. It is a freshly installed XP
HOME and MS Office XP
(clean install) on the computer with NOT Internet connection.
Jack

You say you don't need to do step one but we say that you should do it
to be sure.

Even if the stupid thing isn't enabled in the Word Processor or in the
Control Panel Text Services it doesn't mean that it isn't installed! If
you don't want to do what it says in the article then that is fine by
me, I have seen horses at water holes before, and eventually when
thirsty enough they will drink! Beleive me, I'm was farm boy, I know...

From http://support.microsoft.com:80/kb/282599:
7. Click the icon next to Alternative User Input, and then select Not
Available

I HAVE ALREADY SET that TO NOT AVAILABLE by default!!!!
What else you expect me to do?
Beats me.
