Problem with Cordless keyboard

I am having a problem, probably with Keyboard. I use about a month old
Microsoft Cordless Wireless Comfort Keyboard 1.0 with Microsoft Wireless
Optical Mouse 2.0). Sometimes my computer freezes. When checked,
Events\Systems\i804prt: Warning. When clicked, it explains that " Could
not set the keyboard typematic rate and delay". This u804prt warning
occurs a few times everyday. I am wondering how I can fix this problem.
Please advise me. Satoshi
 
Environments of my computer: Windows XP Pro and SP2. Computer is currently
running super, though.
My computer was set for an automatic Windows Updates. This morning
(6/18/05), there was an automatic Windows Updates.
After autoinstallation and rebooting, nothing has been changed.

connect the base station to microprocessor: a) USB connection and 2) PS/2
connection.

USB connection (i.e., connecting only through a USB port) does not work. So
I am currently using PS/2 connection (i.e., using both a round green adapter
which USB connector is connected and also a purple round connector for
mouse).

Please advise me how to fix this problem.

What happens with Windows Updates?

This has nothing to do with Windows Updates unless the OP downloaded and
installed drivers for the device from Windows Update (always a bad
idea). Satoshi - If you did that, roll back the drivers from the
device's properties in Device Manager. If you didn't do that, make sure
you have the most recent drivers for the keyboard and that its batteries
are fresh. If you already do have current drivers and the batteries are
good, then check with tech support for the hardware to see if there are
any known issues/workarounds. Even though the hardware is new, it may be
defective. Another thing to check is if that particular usb port on your
computer is working properly. You could try attaching the base station
to a different usb port and see if that makes a difference. Make sure
the base station is located in a place where the signal can get through
without interference.

Let us know what happens. If you need more help, post back and include
information about your computer.

I can't advise you how to fix the problem since I've never used that
particular keyboard/mouse. However, it certainly sounds like you've done
a lot of troubleshooting. I'd try uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers.
If that doesn't fix it, I guess you'll need to contact tech support for
the hardware.
