AOl tells me that "Windows XP hotfix SP2 Q811493" one of
th many "UPDATES" is preventing me from getting on to
broadband and I should contact vendor (Dell) to remove
it.Dell says its microsoft's problem and microsoft says
its Dell. Can anyone help, please?
.
well regardless the "hotfix" was created by microsoft
if you are sure it is the cause of your problem
some "hotfixs" can be removed. control panel, add & remove
programs and click on the one you want, a change/remove
box should appear, click & remove if it will let you. also
if the hotfix was installed not to long ago. look in
system restore and if you see it listed you can also
remove it there but keep in mind you will also remove
anything else that was installed after the hotfix. if the
hotfix came installed w/new you might not be able to
remove it. as a last resort you can read up on performing
a non destructive system recovery. only if the hotfix
didn't come installed when new & only if you are unable to
uninstall it in add/removes programs. a recovery should be
you last resort and you need to really now what you are
doing,,,,,,,good luck...."dano"
