Hello,
my problem is that now when I drag and drop some clips to the storyboard
all I get is a green clip, still plays on the preview but I can't see it on
the storyboard, I only see a green clip. Sometimes it says missing B frame.
Also some clips on the collection are messed up, for example, the image won't
correspond to what it plays on the preview.
Everything was working fine until I installed and uninstalled WindDVD
Creator... I think it has messed up movie maker for whatever the reason.. I
don't know what to do. I imported again the movie into the collection but it
keeps doing the same.
Any idea what to do???

thank you
Isabel

Hllo,

A mising B frame suggest that it is an interlaced video...there is
nothing wrong with that but when the header info gets messed up (for
whatever reason) some program turn their toes up and stop breathing !!

Their is a fair chance that re-indexing the file will solve it. You can
get the free and excelent program Windows Media Encoder from Microsoft...to
re-index the file all you do is open it with th encoder and straight away
close it....if it was an index problem caused by a damaged file header you
shoukd now be able to open it in Movie Maker.

Reading the part of your message about image not matching up with whats
played also indicates a corrupted file.

If the above does not work and you still suspect that some part of Movie
Maker is damaged you can try the following slightly more drastic approach.
Check out the FAQ posted today at 1300hrs GMY called Crashes and
Hangs......scan down to the part about installing SP2, DirectX Codec Pack
etc and follow those instructions. You should do this even if you have SP2
etc already installed

Hope that helps a little

ok, I installed media encoder.. tried to open the file, by the way it's an
avi file, I'm not sure if I had to do this but I went to Wizard, convert a
file... then after I get the source file, it tells me that windows media
encoder has encountered a problem and needs to be close :-(
You think I need to reinstall SP2????
thanks for your help

Isabel

Can you play the AVI video correctly in Windows Media Player? Furthermore is
rendering to DV AVI working from Movie Maker?

yes, it plays fine in Media Player... sorry, I don't know what rendering to
DV AVI is :-(

Hello Isabel,

Back to our conversation......did you follow exactly the instructions in the
last paragraph of my reply???? Untill you do and therefore remove several
possible issues it will be a little difficult proceed....its a better route
than simply having a guess you see. Its also better than having rehan wish
you would stop breathing...nasty man.

Best Wishes.....John Kelly
