Hello All,
I am having a problem logging a SPECIFIC user, a win XP pro client to a win2k AD PDC. Since it seems to be isolated to one user I was wondering if this could be a sign of AD corruption based on the user account. Once I get to login in prompt I put in the username and password then it says loading and applying changes...then nothing but a blue screen and the mouse pointer. It appears that the local profile may have been damaged or removed but why does it not let me build a new profile by removing the user nad adding it back locally?
PS. I made no changes and this account worked just yesterday.
Any suggestions?

Altria,

Using this user account have you tried logging him/her on
with another machine? Have you tried logging on to that
problem WINXP Pro machine?

Also, and this is purely symantics, there are no more PDCs
or BDCs. In WIN2000 there are simply Domain Controllers.
Please note, however, that one of the five FSMO Roles is
that of the PDC Emulator.

Please let us know what happens when you try my above two
suggestions.

Cary

Hello Cary,
I have tried both, the first does not work on any machine and the latter I
can log into the machine with any other account. What I did was move that
user out of the one OU into the another OU then back again. Everything works
fine now.
PS. I am used to saying PDC , I am regressing into NT 4.0 land..: )
Thanx for your response,
Altria

Glad that things work now....
