Has anyone heard of a problem with an Autosum not updating
if a row with data is inserted in a column of numbers? I
read something in Help about it not working if the row is
inserted above or below the 3rd or 5th row? Any addtional
information would be appreciated.

Autosum is not a function in and of itself. All it does is create a formula in a cell. Once that is done the Autosum is no longer active

That said, if a formula contains a range reference, and you insert rows outside (ie. above or below) that reference, excel will not add them to your range. you either need to include an extra row at the bottom of your range so you can insert above that row (ie. inside the range), or replace your range with an OFFSET function

If you post the formula you are having difficulty with, I can probably come up with a formula which will handle row inserts
