Hi,

I've decided to build a new computer with the ASUS A7N8X-E. After
plugging everything in and turning the power switch on the supply, the
green led on board comes on. However, after pressing the switch on the
case, nothing happens at all. No beeps, No voice messages, No nothing.

What could be causing this?

Thanks,
Shane

Lots of things but the most obvious is that the power switch is not
connected correctly, has pulled loose, or doesn't work. Try using the
reset switch instead (connected to the pwr switch pins), check which
pins it's connected too, or (carefully) just short the two power on pins
briefly (not recommended for the ham fisted - shorting the wrong two
could be terminal).

After that you're into realms of dud motherboards, PSUs, etc. etc.
However 90%+ are simply mis-connected (or broken) power on buttons.

My first guess is the motherboard maybe shorting out to the case, all your
mounting posts directly in line with the holes?? Whenever I install a new MB
I always test it out of the case first with nothing plugged in but the vid
card, try unplugging everything, then if it works plug in one item at a
time.

Also, this board is a heavy consumer of +5V. A 3200+ with two
512MB DIMMs running Prime95 uses 17 amps on +5V. A good video
card might want another 5 amps on +5V. Disk drives are about
1 amp a piece on +5V. So, +5V@25A is a good starting point
for a supply. The board only used 5A from +3.3V and virtually
nothing from +12V (just whatever video card or disk drives
need).

But if this was a PSU problem, you'd likely have seen the fans
"twitch", which would mean the power switch was making contact
and the PSU ran for less than a second. If there is no "twitch",
chances are the power switch is not seated on its two header
pins properly.
