Hi;

I assembeled a pc by buying the pieces one by one and
that is a P4. Recently i tried to test that, but when i
turned on the system, i can see just a little green light
on the corner of motherboard but even CPU fan does not
work. what could cause this problem that system does not
boot? where i can some useful information about
connections and cables on the motherboard?

Cheers,
Bernard

I would suggest that you hooked up the power connector
incorrectly, or plugged the cpu fan into something other
than it's proper power supply plug.

Most mother board powersupply connectors can only be
installed one way, so I think the problem is the cpu
connector.

Didn't you get a manual with the MB?? it should show a
detailed listing of all the connectors and plugs.

Hi, Bernard.

This is not a Windows question at all. It's a hardware question. Have you
visited Abit's website?

If you have access to a news server, look for one of the several newsgroups
dealing with mainboards. The Abit one is: alt.comp.mainboards.abit (I
also see alt.comp.mainboard.abit and alt.comp.periphs.mainboard.abit, so I'm
not sure which one is most active.)

But, as the others have said, the BEST source of information on a
motherboard is in the manual that comes with it! I've built a few systems
and there's no substitute for that manual!

Providing you have plugged all the wires from the case to the appropriate
connectors on the motherboard, you should get a beep from your onboard
speaker when you press the power button. It's possible that the power button
is not plugged correctly and that is why nothing happens. The green light
indicates that the motherboard is getting the right voltages.
