problem with Add/Remove program

Okay So I have a problem and I'm fairly pathetic when my
computer goes haywire.

Okay when I open the add/remove programs option. I get a
box with a gray line down the left side and words written
across the top~~ 'Change or Remove ProgramsAdd New
ProgramsAdd/Remove Windows ComponentsSet Program Access and
Defaults'

I've searched the microsoft website and can't find any
answers to this problem can anyone help??? I'd be eternally
grateful.
