when I try to install Windows Vista CTP February 2006 on my notebook (Asus
M6N) I get the following error message:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage
to your computer.

If this is the fist time ...

The BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please contact your
system vendor for an updated BIOS.
Technical information:

*** STOP: 0x000000A5 (0x00000003, 0x812535A0, 0xC0140010, 0x494E495F)

I have the newest BIOS update installed on my notebook. any ideas?

Sometimes upgrading a BIOS doesn't help with Vista. If you can un-flash your
BIOS to a previous version that works, go ahead and do that. However if you
un-flash and it still comes up with the same Stop message... try running
Vista on a new machine :o)

I'm wondering if this is going to be rectified before public release. MS
is going to have a terrible time if everyone with a laptop can't install
the new OS. I am having the same problem.. I also have a tablet PC and a
desktop but didn't really want to install it on either of those. I had
earmarked my laptop when I asked my friend if they would get me into the
beta. I might consider loading it on my desktop but last resort. I'm
hoping to get an answer from MS direct tomorrow via tech support number
they supplied with the disk.

I can hardly wait to get this working. I hope I can get it to work on my
laptop,. I'm not going to downgrade my BIOS to get it to work though. My
laptop is only 6 months old and it has the original and latest BIOS.

Thnaks!

You have to run setup.exe from the download site. The image is bogus. Had
the same problem while trying to run from DVD.img....

No files are available to me from the connect site. I'm on the friends
and family beta.

If what you say is true, MS is not aware of it.

Varies from BIOS to BIOS and motherboard to motherboard. Consult
*your* manual.

Thanks. That does help now that I know what the acronym stands for.
