Hello,
I have Windows XP Professionnal and a disc formatted NTFS.
I have a problem with folder in which I cannot enter any more. Windows XP
tells me "Access Denied".
But I never put rights of permissions and I cannot do it.
This PC is not in network, it is not in a domain, the tab "Safety" (which
appeared in Windows 2000 or which appears when a XP is in network on a
domain) is not present.
There are thus probably rights which were put on this folder but I cannot
remove them since I do not have tools for that in Windows XP.
In Windows 2000, the Administrator could take the rights on the folder and
we could redefine the rights. Here in XP, I'm the Administrator and I don't
have this right.
Do you have a solution ?
Thank you for your assistance and sorry for my english
Philippe

If you mean that you no longer see the Security tab (I'm pretty sure there's
no Safety tab) you can try this:

Right click on Start, choose Explore. From the Tools menu, choose Options.
From the General tab, scroll down and uncheck Use Simple File Sharing.
Return to the folder in question, right click and you should see the
Security tab there. I'm not sure if this will solve your problem of having
been denied access, but it will allow you to see the Security tab.
