I am having the same problem with not only A:, but also B: (5,25" floppy)
drives. It is sufficient to insert a floppy disk, as far as I know, nothing
is written. The disks are possibly tested (I did not encounter if this have
occured). Please explain.

I have a system showing this symptom as well. Tried one set of steps I
thought were applicable, but they didn't solve it. So I'm still looking as
well.

FWIW, mine is a Windows 2000 Pro, SP4.

same problem here...doing a 'quick' scan nothing happens...but doing a 'full'
scan, it will be almost done scanning and it would stop on
file...C:\documentsandsetting\applicationdata\microsoft\templates\normal.dot
and run my A: drive. sometimes a few seconds and finishes scan but sometimes
it get stuck there and stops responding. hopefully microsoft will fix
this...it is a beta version!!!!!!!

I would suggest uninstalling Defender, deleting left over files and folders,
running CCleaner and a good registry cleaner and then reinstalling. You're
right it is a beta but it's not meant to fix system problems, only to find
malware.

BTW, I have it running and scanning on three systems and so far it has run
flawlessly. :)

Hi Linuxgirl

CCleaner has a registry cleaner within "Issues" ;)

Safe, "conservative" and fast with a built in backup function
before removal.

It does not bother me, I am able to insert a floppy... I was only wishing to
help developers to make a good tool.

In addition to mine asking for a floppy it also did the same for my JAZ
drive. Of course the "Cancel" nor the "Continue" buttons will not work for
either drive hang up so I must put a disk in and use "Try Again". I am also
running Window 2000 SP4, appears to be pretty common with this OS.

This is the only problem I have had with Defender beta 2. Everything else
appears to be working great. I hope this can be correct shortly.
Thanks.
Bob
