Sandy

When I scan with MS Spyware it reports that it finds
spyware it calls "CommonName Settings Modifier" at either
reigstry key 6371 or 6257 and then hangs. If I let it run
it will eventually report that the computer is out of
virtual memory and hang. If I stop the scan it reports
that the program will not respond. I tried uninstalling
and re-installing the program but recieve the same
message. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

Send a Suspected Spyware Report from Tools Menu. Also send information about

Andre - unless Steve Dodson has requested this specific kind of feedback, I
think this will make his work opening the mail at that address harder,
rather than easier.

Folks--please keep the feedback here in these groups.

Sandy - this is a bug, I believe.

Microsoft Antispyware is looping on this particular detection, and leaking
memory at the same time. You can't fix this yourself.

I believe you are going to need to find an alternative method of cleaning
this particular threat, before you can reliably run Microsoft Antispyware.

One way to attempt this would be to use an online antivirus scanner which
also covers spyware:

Trend Micro's scanner fits this bill. If you do try this out--let us know
how it works, please?
