Whenever I close a pdf document accessed from a website, I get a message
saying: Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. I am running Windows 2000 and IE
6.0. I don't have this problem on any other computer. Help!

Hi Mark :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced.
Check the box to "Disable script debugging."
Uncheck the box to "Display a notification about every script error."

or....

Disable the Script Debugger in IE
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/disabledebugger.reg
http://www.sureshotsoftware.com/articles/scripterrors.html
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=293623

Hope this helps.

Jan,
Thanks for your response. I did have the settings correct already, and the
other fixes didn't help either. Here is the info on the error: Appl name:
iexplore.exe, App Ver 6.0.2800.1106, Mod Name: pdf.ocx, Mod ver 6.0.2.126,
Offset 000215db. Don't know if that will help or not. And, I'm running
Windows 2000.
Thanks...

Are you using Acrobat Reader as your PDF reader? If so, which version? Try
uninstalling the Acrobat reader and reinstalling it and see if that will
help.

Also, try downloading and installing a small, free PDF reader and see if you
still have the problem. That way you will have a better idea if it is the
Adobe Reader or some other area.

I prefer using this little reader for my PDF files.

Hope this helps.

Actually I was using Adobe 5.0, uninstalled it and reinstalled 6.0.2. with
the same result. If I download your reader, will I lose the ability to save
and read things in Adobe if I want?

No. As long as the file remains a PDF file format it can be read and saved
by either program.
The As a test before I confirmed my answer, I have installed the Adobe
Reader 5.0. I have opened a PDF file from a website
http://jobs.virginia.gov/appempv2.pdf with the Adobe Reader, and saved it.
Then opened the same Adobe Reader saved PDF file with the FoxIt reader,
saved a copy of the file with the FoxIt file, giving it a new name. I then
selected the new file, right clicked and opened it with the Adobe Reader.
Thus, I can open, read and save the file equally in each program.

Also, perhaps you might try updating to the Adobe Reader v6. Many websites
may now require the more recent Adobe reader.

Hope this helps.
