Hi Guys
We have one site (nearly 400 miles away and remote access only by VNC/PCA)
which gives me massive headaches.) Most of this is due to lack of
supervision, and they are youths with learning difficulties) They visit
illegal web sites, change desktop wallpaper, install/uninstall software,
rotating screen display 180 out etc.etc etc.
They are on Win XP and a restricted user. They were working OK (albeit
restricted) but managed to persuade the local supervisor to give them the
admin password.
I have managed to wrestle control back and have locked the admin account
down and the supervisor doesnt know the password so he cannot compromise it
again. We need to disable most of the functionality (ctrl panel etc.) and
give them access to office (2003) printing and access to learning web sites
only.
I have tried fiddling with group policy mmc and have managed to achieve some
success but all the users, admin included, have the same restrictions placed
on them. Has anyone any suggestions how to enforce policies on a single
profile user. (they all log on to the same profile) without affecting other
legitimate users?
We have raised this time and time again with our management who are too busy
with other things to seriously spend time rectifying the problem at source
and would rather a sad IT chappy does the leg work for them. I am mainly
printers and hardware engineer but this task has fallen to me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Dave
