Trying to upgrade my new Toshiba Satellite laptop from 64 bit VISTA Home
Premium to 64 bit VISTA Ultimate
Have plenty of space on C: drive - 150GB with approx 50GB used and 100 GB
free
While in Home Premium, I insert and run the VISTA Ultimate CD
Select upgrade
I have it connected to internet so it can retrieve updates
It goes though the process of upgrading but ends with a message similar
to --- Windows could not configure one or more system components. It then
reverts back to Home Premium.
I have tried performing the upgrade both before and after installing updates
to Home Premium- no difference.
I have tried having the network connected or not during upgrade-- no
difference.
I have researched newsgroup and MS Knowledgebase but cannot determine the
problem or what to try next.
Below is the contents of the file setuperr.log from the laptop after it
reverts back to Home Premium per KB articles 927523 and 927521.
I also tried performing a clean install of Ultimate on the laptop. It
installs completely without errors. Of course it then has none of the
Toshiba drivers that are necessary so this is not a viable answer but I
wanted to see if it would get through the install without errors.
Any thoughts and suggestions???
1. How to fix problem with upgrade?
or
2. How can I reasonably install all the drivers and Toshiba stuff if I do a
clean Ultimate install?
