Hello everyone,

I got myself a little problem.... I decided to install a few of my older games on my computer, and one little game has been giving me some problems. Its called Sacred, Its nothing special but i have been aching to play it. It installes just fine, but it requires to cd to start the game. Now heres my problem. When the game checks for the cd, it cant confirm wether or not its the real cd or not, and it is the original cd :( . Does anyone have any experience with virtual drives and what not that could help me play this game without haveing to check for the cd? I know this is a touchy subject (i think :D) but if you have a program that works (and is free), just reply or PM me.

btw - yes the cd worked the first time i got it and im still using the same dvd drive that i used before. and the dvd drive works just fine :D

thanks in advance

lets try and to keep this thread open so people can respond to it :D

No problem ... ;)

The "game" uses cdProtection vob 5, or something like that. In effect, it can stop you from playing the game ... feckin daft innit.

So that leave you with two choices ... return the game for a full refund or use a NoCDCrack ... yes, you heard me right.

Let me say this ... I will not and cannot condone Piracy, however, if the stupid game manufacturer is going to prevent me from playing a game I bought, then they can go kiss my hairy ass ... if the like of the nice people who wrote Oblivion can supply you with NO copy protection, why the hell do I have to jump through hoops to get a game I bought to work because the copy protection stops it working.

GO GET A NO-CDCRACK

Stuff the silly idiots. :thumb:

oh, I WILL delete any links to any such programs. Use Google. ;)

the volume serial number looks something like this (A2O6-H1E7).I KEEP ALL MY CRASHED CD'S FOR MY OPERATING SYSTEMS BECAUSE I HAVE BEEN ASKED BY THE SYSTEM TO INSERT THE CD WITH VOLUME LABEL SERIAL #....
THIS IS NOT NESSESARILY THE ORIGINAL DISK.WITHOUT IT I WOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO CONTINUE.ONCE THE MACHINE HAS OBTAINED THE NUMBER OFF THE CRASHED DISK I CAN THEN INSERT A WORKING COPY AND PROCEED PROVIDING THE INFO ON THE CRASHED DISK THAT THE COMPUTER NEEDS IS AVAILABLE.

What is it with you and capital letters?

I would suggest transfering CD contents of the game to a hardrive.copy and paste all of the .exe files as they may make a shortcut if you drag and drop.
After the transfer is complete and you know you have all the data, uninstall the game.reinstall it by activating the game setup from the folder on the hardrive.
My little girls' blues clues was corrupted.17mb missing.I copied everything i could. Two out of six games were corrupted. However the ones she likes the most
still work.LUCKY.THE GAME NO LONGER PROMPTS FOR A CD.

You really must try to stop SHOUTING, Jim. ;)

You may find on the 'older' game that copying to the HD can solve your problem ... however, these modern day anti-copy protection software will still prevent you playing the game, 'cos it don't "see" the CD.

It does surprise me, not, to see that you can actually do what you suggested, I know it works, with most Windows Software, even the OS ... but it really is a pee poor excuse for games to "accidental" block you from playing your shop bought genuine copy on your PC because of some idiotic copy protection.

i cant return it mucks, i got it over a year ago :D
soooo.... lets say, theoryreically (bad spelling), i did find a nocdcrack and it did start.... except with no sound.... and when i play everything goes black :(

Should i just give in?

do you think im better off just buying the "gold edition' that comes with the expansion?
orrr.... get Titans Quest? :D

Alf, very PC is different, so what may work for most, others find it don't work ... that's PCs for you.

If you had found a nocd crack ,I assume that you would have checked that it would be for the correct version of your game.
If you had found a nocd crack for your version of the game and it may not have run, well, as Mucks says' above.

There may well be other nocd's out there, which may work........ just be very careful. I hear some of these sites are a bit dodgy....I wouldn't know of course, having never been on one;)

Looks like alf is going to have to buy another copy of his game. However if it was me in this position and really needed the game I would take a fresh drive and rewrite the drive information so the computer thinks the drive is a cd rom. Then I would transfer all the games that require a cd interface to that drive.

A sound plan jim.... but im not going lose all my info just for one game :D
i am getting my rpg fix though.... in the form of Chronno Trigger. Cant belive after all these years how fun it is. Thanks for helping me, everyone. perhaps ill just get a new game
Ill take suggestions :D
