Problem setting up dial connection

I need to set up a modem connection to test a VPN server. Hardware is
installed and works using TelNet.

The connection 'wizard' takes me through all the steps and then stops at
naming the connection. It tells me I need a name of at least 1 character,
not a space and no periods.

Nothing works. The default from the wizard, simple name like 'test1', or
even obscene words don't provide what it wants.

Is it broke? Is there a work around?

Thanks,

Doug Sanders

I hate to ask this, but did you make sure there was no spaces in front of the
profile name or at the end. I have done this before in the past.

I think the Connection Wizard is broken. I couldn't get it to work the
last time I tried it, either. What I did was to make a copy of an
existing connection, rename it, and then modify it.

I'm using win2k with the 'Network and Dial-up Connections' wizard.
LAN settings work fine, just won't let me add a dial up.

I checked again and made sure there were no leading or triling spaces. Even
went back to my 'test1' name but doesn't work.

How do I copy my existing LAN connection? I don't know the file extension.

Thanks,
Doug

Use the Internet Connection Wizard:
Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections tab > Setup...

Thanks, but it's broken.

'Cannot load the Remote Access Connection Manager service.
Error 711: The Remote Access Service Manager could not start. Additional
information is provided in the event log.'

Event log says: 'The Routing and Remote Access service terminated with
service-specific error 711.
The Remote Access Connection Manager service terminated with the
following error:
Access is denied.'
I am the administrator.
Thanks again.

Doug
