problem setting Outlook as default email client

Hi --

For years I used Outlook Express as my email handler. Several months
ago, I installed Office 2003 and decided to give Outlook a try -- but
I didn't set it as the default email handler upon installation. Now,
however, I want it to be the default. But in spite of setting it as
the default both in Outlook and in Internet Explorer, and in spite of
going into Outlook Express and unsetting it as the default, each time
I log on I have to reset Outlook as the default.

Any help would be appreciated.

Just to follow up: the problem is not with the registry. I've
localized the problem to Internet Explorer -- each time I bootup, for
some reason IE has reset the default email client to Outlook Express,
overriding the registry value.

If anyone can advise me on how to stop IE from doing this, I'd be
grateful.

I have seen this once before and it was resolved by logging in as
Administrator and changing it to Outlook, don't know if this helps
