How I long for the good old days of Win95.
This was my reply to Mike:
D:\Electronics_9\Drivers\HP-ScanJet IIcx-XP\DISK1\Setup.exe(or one of
its components). Check to ensure the path and filename are correct and
that all required libraries are available.
What I downloaded was a self extacting file which extacts to a default
Dir "My Documents". in the past I would move the files to my driver
dir on another disk and everything work fine
in this case I try to run the set up program on the D: drive and I get
the error message, But you know, if is extract the files to the
default dir "MyDoctuments" and run it, it works fine
I tried using Run, My Computer to run this on the D: Drive and get the
same error message. Also I tried the compatibility mode (Win95) same
results.
I've been seening this error message a lot on other programs.
I also see it when I set the the associate for a *.nfo to wordpad. I
double click on the *.nfo I get the Error message.
I noticed a problem when I tried associating a .nfo with Wordpad. I
got a "file not found", there was a second entry is associcating for
wordpad which work great. So I went back to the org entry to see if I
could why it didn't work, and then I noticed the the paths have
changed to dos 8 char file names "progra~1" instead of "Program
Files", I changed it and it worked ok. I checked my Registery and a
lot of the paths were changed the same way, I changed a lot of them
and the file not found message started to go away.
I cann't figure out how the got changed since XP was the big move from
DOS. This is a fresh install.
I think this is lets F__K with the old mans head and watch the fun
Thank Mike for trying to help
