Little Matty

All right, so I try and play an online IP game on Flight Simulator
2002 for example. For some reason, whenever I play an online game
involving IP addresses, it doesn't wrk. I've learned that my computer
is pinging and receiving the IP's, but for some reason, they won't
load. Another example is Starcraft. The Battle.net server is based on
IP games, so the thing doesn't even load. Ive tried with lots of
games, all the same problem. Although I DO have McAfee personal
Firewall Plus, but I've disabled it.

Please answer, any help would be appreciated.

Hi Little Matty,

The first step to troubleshoot the problem would be to
completely uninstall your firewall. Sometimes when you
select the disable option, there are still processes which
run in the background and continue blocking your game.

Matty should also check how he/she is connecting to the Internet. If they
have a direct Internet connection, to their PC, then its IP address should
be available across the Internet. If hey are using a broadband router, then
the router is also providing firewall services which does not allow the
complete flow of IP/UDP requests to be completed. They may need to see how
to "forward" Internet ports for the game and/or set up a DMZ connection to
their PC. DMZ connection allows the complete IP/UDP traffic to flow across
the Internet, with out any firewall service.

Y.
