Problem regarding XP installation

I installed Windows XP (from Win 98) and it finished
without any problems. But the thing is, my monitor
suddenly turns off after the Windows XP logo. It's like
when you put your pc on standby. Why oh why does that
happen? I can hear the opening sounds and all but I can't
see anything. So what I do is restart the pc again and
there's a scandisk (improper shutdown). It shows errors
like "file is truncated". But after the scandisk, XP
boots and then the monitor still turns off. Did I miss
something during the installation? I really really need
to use my pc (am currently using my roommate's). Help!

Faye,
More then likely your display settings are too high for
the monitor. Right before you see the Windows XP logo
press "F8" repetedly. When the menu comes up
select "boot with VGA". Once in Windows you should be
able to set your display settings to one that works and
then reboot.
Let me know how it works for you.....
Thanks,
Aaron C. Smith
