Problem Previewing Videos for Editing

I'm having a problem. I was working on a video yesterday when my computer
crashed. Now when I try to preview a clip to edit it before inserting it into
the video, it won't play. If I do manage to get it to play, I get audio, but
no visual. If I do get visual, it is stuck on two frames. Does anyone know
how I can fix this problem?
