Problem playing avi file in powerpoint 2003

With Powerpoint 2003 we are not able to play .avi file. If
we set the movie to play in full screen mode that work but
in normal mode we just saw a black square. We uninstalled
and reinstall Powerpoint, we made a repair to Office. We
tried with Powerpoit viewer 2003 and we have the same
problem. This problem occur on some computer not all.

Did someone saw this problem before?
 
When you say you see the movie to play in full screen mode, do you mean when
you view the file as a presentation, the movie plays as it should?

If so, that's how it's supposed to work. Movies won't play when you're in
just "normal" mode, only in slide show view.
 
I mean by full screen, when you edit the movie object you
can ask the option zoom to full screen, and you just se
the movie rolling instead of the smaller movie insert in
the presentation.

The problem occur in slide show view.
