Problem opening folders created on disc

I save a lot of things to disc. I open new folders to keep subjects
together. But when ever i shut down my computer, when I open it up and try
to open a foler, I get a message that I am no authorivzed to open it and see
the system administrator. I am the administrator. How do I correct this
problem

I am using Windows XP

Define "disc"..
Hard Drive, CD, DVD, Zip, Other?

Define "save"..
In the applicationis themselves or copy/burn to said media?

Define "things"..
These just general files (word, excel, etc) or something else like Database
or other?

What happens when you take ownership?
