Problem opening files/pages

Dan

I use FP2000 and today upgraded from Office 2000 to Office XP.
(Specifically, I uninstalled Office 2K and then installed Office XP). I
purposely did NOT upgrade FP2000 because I need it to work. But of course
now when I try to open a file/page on my local server I get an error message
saying

" Unable to open file"

The web seems to open fine, it is just the individual page that will not
open.

You should have either kept Office 2000 installed or let Office XP replace
it. However, uninstall Office XP, re-install FP2000 and all Office 2000
Updates, then install Office XP and then it's updates.

But why did what I did cause this problem? After all I left FP2K untouched -
or at least I thought I did. Maybe I wasn't clear enough in my original
post. When I uninstalled Office 2000, I did not uninstall FP2K (which I had
installed originally as a stand alone product), so FP2K should still be
working normally.

I am hoping there is another solution besides what you suggest. That seems
like an awful lot of work for something that feels quite small, if you know
what I mean. Is there no workaround other than that? How about if I upgrade
FP2K to FP2002. Would that fix the problem?

Thanks Thomas,

Dan Hugh-Jones

Your original post was clear. When you uninstall Office 2000 it most likely
also uninstall some required Office DLLs that are also used by FP, since FP
is a Office application.
