problem opening excel files

I am using Office XP ...

I cannot get excel to come up by double clicking on my
file....I have to launch the excel program, click on open
find the file and then select it...

even if excel is running minimized clicking on a file in
the explorer will not open that file...the only way for me
to open my files is by going through the excel program...

my word program works as advertised...

any suggestions??

Choose Tools/Options/General from the menu and make sure the "Ignore
other applications" checkbox is not checked.

I was having the same problem...thanks for the tip. It now works though I'm
not sure how the "Ignore other apps" option got checked in the first place.
