Problem of copying on network

Hello

I am working in an organisation. I am facing the problem
regarding when I copy a file from another computer to
another computer, it does not copies and no error message
comes. The computers are on LAN. They are P-4 compaq
computers. The operating system is Windows XP
Professional. Sometimes system hangs when accesing the
other computer.

Please send me the solution.

Harshbir,

A bit more info required so the folks here can help.....so a few questions
I'm afraid :)

From what you say, are ALL the computers running XPpro?

Are you running any security software or firewalls - e.g the XP built
infirewall is ok for a single system connecting the the net, but will block
legitimate traffic on a LAN?

What is the exact error message(s) you are getting?

How are the computers connected together - ie. via a hub/router etc?

Do all computers have the same problem, or do some work and others not -
this will all help with people diagnosing the problem?

If file transfer fails from computer a to b try a to c (if possible) instead
and see if the problem remain, goes away or another problem occurs....the
more information you can give, the better.

When the system hangs, can you access the task manager (ctrl-alt-delete) to
see which processes are running/hanging?

Are all the Xp systems up-to-date and fully patched?

I'M HAVING SAME KIND OF PROBLEM, I HAVE A NOTEBOOK COMPAQ(HP) PRESARIO 2130LA USING XP HOME EDITION.
WHEN I TRY TO COPY A FILE FROM MY PC TO OTHER PC FOLDER APPEAR THIS MESSAGE:

CAN NOT COPY "FILE" : ACCES IS DENIED
MAKE SURE THE DISK IS NOT FULL OR WRITE PROTECTED
AND THAT FILE IS NOT CURRENTLY IN USE

THE OTHER PC IS ONE OF THE SERVERS OF MY COMPANY, USING XP PROFESIONAL EDITION.

CAN YOU HELP ME, PLEASE.
