My computer with Win2000 SP4 stops to download updates. I have looked into
"windows update.log" file and found that last message is two months old.
What can be a reason of such strange behavior?

I have tried to make "force detection cycle", registry values
(LastWaitTimeOut) was changed, but nothing was downloaded and I still have
no new messages in logfile.

I have the exact same problem.
I am going directly to the Microsoft WU site, I and NOT using the SUS
server stuff.

W2k Server, SP4

These steps:
1. stop wuauserv
2. delete DetectionStartTime and LastWaitTimeout
3. rename/delete "C:\WINNT\Windows Update.log"
4. start wuauserv

produce these results
1. DetectionStartTime and LastWaitTimeout re-appear with the 'current'
date/time stamps as expected.
3. "C:\WINNT\Windows Update.log" never ever never ever never
re-appears.

Its like the service is running, but is not trying to do anything.

If I go to the WU site manually, "C:\WINNT\Windows Update.log" gets
created and filled with self explanatory entries.

But the Automatic Updates never ever never seems to actually do
anything and never updates/creates the log file.

I have been reading for 6 hours now. I have seen lots of folks
describe this problem, but I have not seen anyone supply the solution.

Many Thanks,
Robert

W2K updates were published Tuesday, 13th (one for machines affected by
Blaster virus and one MDAC update

Before that, the last updates for W2K were published November 11, 2003.

The last message in my 'windows update.log' file is dated October 14, 2003.
So there's at least the November 11 update which is missing.
Can you share any other ideas how to fix this problem?

Just to clarify, if you visit the site and scan for updates you are offered
which updates?
