Problem moving emails to PST

I have a user that is trying to move old emails to a PST folder. When he
moves a X amount of file he gets the message:

"Creating a new item from selected items could take some time. Are you sure
you want to create a new item from these items?"

That was trying with over 100 emails w/attachments but eventually came up
when moving around 50 emails. I did move single emails a few times without
problems and did up the amount of emails to over 100 emails eventually.
Majority of the time that the message came up was with appointment messages
but did show up with only regular emails a few times. Anyone have any ideas?

Where is the user dropping the items? Sounds like mail items are being
dropped on a non-mail folder so Outlook is trying to create a different item
type from the multiple emails

It's a regular mail folder that he created. The thing is, I'm still able to
move the same exact emails over, just in smaller batches. Sometimes I can
only move one at a time. After a few moves, I then can move emails in larger
batches. Once in awhile, when I move a large batch of emails, I get the
"Creating a new item from selected items could take some time" message and I
click on ok, it opens up an email as if I was forwarding it.

And what might your problem be...? There is no connection to the
original message, and the original text has been cut off.

Please specify your Outlook version, describe what you want to do, and
what the resulting problem is.

I had this problem as well. The answer was that the user was logged into two machines with Outlook and the pst configured at both and opened at both (our pst's are stored on network shares)... once the user closes Outlook on one machine, and restarts Outlook on the other, the problem will be gone.

Creating a new item from the selected items could take some time ....

You get this annoying message in Outlook 2007 if you have some deleted contacts in the Deleted Items folder and then try to move a group of messages that include a deleted contact out of the folder. If you get rid of the deleted contacts first, you should have no trouble moving the messages.
