problem mounting a HD!

I have problem mounting a IDE drive(60GB) being attached to a IDE to USB
enclosure. The system seems to know the existence of the HD when I turn on
the enclosure. I can see the model of the drive from Device Manager, but it
won't mount (with update hardware command). When checking from Disk
Management, the drive is shown in a yellow sign with either exclamation or
question mark in it.

I'm sure the enclosure works since another IDE HD works fine with this
enclosure. The HD in question was on a PC (which I cannot access now) and
it worked fine there before.

I wonder if there is a program that I can use the check the status of the
HD to know if the drive is broken. Or any program that I can use to mount a
HD.

Thanks for any suggestions,

Is the drive's Master/Slave jumper set properly?
