Problem managing my domain

When I run my MMC to manage my domain I get the following pop up message:

Naming Information cannot be located because: the specified domain either
does not exist or could not be contacted. Contact your system
administrator....

I am new with managing Active Directory domains. Items that have occured
since the last time I successfully used the Management Console:
I upgraded my computer to Windows XP Server Pack 2
I upgraded my computer to Windows 2003 applications (Office, Visio,
Project, etc.)
I changed the permissions on my servers C: and D: drives from letting
EVERYONE have access to just the Domain Admins and System.

I thought the upgrades to XP SP2 and 2003 applications might be causing the
problem so I removed those changes from my system. No help.

I then set the permissions back on the C: and D: drives of the servers to
allow EVERYONE to have access. No help.

Can anyone help me resolve this?

Thanks.

How are your DNS settings looking? Are you configuring them with DHCP, or
hardcoding them? If it's the latter, have you made an error?

This error is almost certainly DNS related. It really will pay you in the
long run to make sure your DNS is configured absolutely correctly.
Configuring DNS properly will make the difference between a good stable
network and a ropey unreliable one.

Oli
