I appear to have found a problem with the above critial update when
attempting to execute a dts package from Access, which exports data from a
SQL Server DB to Excel. If this update is installed, it fails.

However, if the same code is called from a different VBA program it works as
expected.

While I don't recommend opening attachments either, just as independent
confirmation, I've scanned these files with a virus scanner AND looked at
the Access code myself, and at least on the surface, the embedded files both
appear to be clean.

That said, I didn't look at the DTS package, except a quick visual
inspection of the file data itself, as I don't have SQL Server installed on
this machine. If you want to be REALLY paranoid, you also have no
guaranteed way of confirming that I'm not the originator under another
guise...but I'm not, honest! :)

So, to the extent that you can trust a newsgroup post, I can tell you that
the attached file was safe...take it or leave it.

So what! You have broken netiquette rules.

Whilst I and many others have superfast and wide connections many people
around the world still use dial-up.

Have some consideration for others if you are to stand any chance of getting
any help.

Oh please...lighten up! It's not like he attached a 2 Meg video clip...he
attached a 51k zipped file. And don't give me the "if we all did that"
argument, cuz obviously we don't all do that, and in the rare instance that
someone does, they generally know to keep it small.

Netiquette is a guide, not a commandment from whatever god(s) you believe
in, if any.

Oh please...lighten up!

You seem to be the one that is exercised about this, I gave the OP advice
which may help him get an answer.

I haven't even mentioned that he multiposted, ooooops! :)

I guess I just took it the wrong way...it came across as you coming down
hard on him. Anyway, no biggie. The joys of text-only mediums. :)
