Two days ago I noticed when I opened 'My Computer' for no reason I had an
additional drive:- Winbond MS Drive (I: ) So I went into Device Manager and
uninstalled it, but when I restart windows, the drive re-appears. It says
the drive is a removable drive.

Then today another drive has magically appeared:- CD Drive (J: ). I did the
same, uninstalled it, although when I restart it comes back.

The only thing I can think of that has changed is I updated Windows XP to
Service Pack 1. Would this of caused it?

Cheers

Probably a Memory stick driver. Did you add a camera or card reader or
something like that to the system? SP1 will not cause that to happen.

Good point JT...
Also, have you recently installed any type of software that may create
additional drivers? Alcohol 120% (CD burning software) did this to me and it
took me forever to figure out the culprit.

Some burning software installs,"Virtual" cdrom drives. These can
usually be removed from the Control Panel/Add Remove Programs list.

Some people overlook that their HP (or other) printer has a memory
reader in it.
